In 1980 the first Miss Olympia contest was held in Philadelphia, U.S.A and won by Rachel McLish. McLish was like the Arnold Schwarzenegger of female bodybuilding at at the time. She was the perfect spokeswoman for female bodybuilding.

Gunnar Rosbo is frequently spoken of in the same breath as fellow contemporary bodybuilders Matt Mendenhall and Rory Leidelmeyer, who, like Rosbo, stopped competing way before they reached their full potential. The first widely published formal print introduction to Rosbo was in an article titled “Arnold Who?” written by Jack Neary in the pages of the February 1983 issue of Muscle and Fitness magazine.

The David Palumbo Monument is scheduled to be installed in San Diego's harbor before 2020.
A 51 foot high statue of Mr. Palumbo is expected to increase tourism and revenue throughout all of Southern California.
